The Midnight Raid

One of my buyers shared a funny story with me recently and I just had to pass it on.
My buyer recently purchased a home in Clermont. Since the home was already fully furnished, he and his wife decided to move in on the night of the closing. Shortly before bed, he opened the back door - forgetting that he had turned the alarm on. Of course, the alarm went off and he had to spend a frantic few seconds getting it shut down again. But aside from that one small hitch it was an uneventful night and he went to bed.
Unfortunately, while he slept he was unaware of the events that were transpiring against him.
He didn't know the alarm was being monitored.
Without a phone, he didn't know that the monitoring service was trying to call him.
Without an answer, the monitoring service decided to dispatch the police.
Within minutes, the police showed up at the property.
Finding the back door left (accidentally) unlocked, the police assumed there was a break-in.
To make a long story short, my buyer was woken up from his sleep with his bedroom light being switched on and a group of officers demanding to know who he was. Needless to say, after a lengthy and probably very confused explanation, he convinced the cops that he did, in fact, own this home and they wished him a good night. Certainly a very eventful first evening in their new home!
So what is the moral of this story? I guess there really isn't one. Except, perhaps, that the Clermont police are really on the ball! If you're looking for a safe place to live, I'd certainly recommend it!
