More Home Buying Tips

The purchase of a new home is a big event in anyone's life.  Doing a little research before you take that first step can save you time, stress and heartache later on.

Here are a few tips that just might make that purchase a lot less stressful

  1. Have a good feeling about the house you are going to purchase.  Don't be pushed into a fast decision.  It is fun to see when my buyers get that feeling.  You can usually see it in their faces.  They have found their home!
  2. When you are looking for that dream home, make sure that the Realtor understands what kind of a home and where you would like to live.  Ask to see their search criteria.  Don't be afraid to change it if you feel that you need to.
  3. Don't be afraid to ask your Realtor to refer you to people you will need to talk to, like the lender, home inspector and so on.  I want the best lender and the toughest home inspector to work with my buyers.  It is a lot easier to take care of the problems before the purchase of the house than it is after closing.
  4. Before signing a contract, make sure that you read and understand the paperwork.  Ask questions, make sure that you understand what your are signing.
  5. Consult an attorney if you do not feel comfortable with the paperwork or contract.
  6. Talk to your Realtor.  This search for your dream home is a team effort.  You can't expect your Realtor to read your mind and you must let them know if you need or want to make changes to the search

When buying your next home, take your time and have fun.  This should be as stress free as possible.
